There’s nothing like a few good football games to start out the New Year with some excitement. To kick off 2019, five big NCAA matchups are on deck for New Year’s Day. While none of these teams will be playing for a shot at the championship, they are still among the best of the season and should prove to be worthy competitors.
Even those football fans who’ve somehow skipped the regular season won’t want to miss out when those last few bowl games commence ahead of the big National Championship finale.

Here’s what you need to know about how to watch all of the college football games airing on Jan. 1 (all times eastern).
The Outback Bowl
The Iowa Hawkeyes (8-4) and the No. 18 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs (8-4) will go head-to-head at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida at 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2, which is available for streaming through non-cable packages like Hulu Live, Sling TV, DirecTV Now and WatchESPN apps.
The Citrus Bowl
No. 12 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (9-3) take on the No. 18 ranked Kentucky Wildcats (9-3) at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida starting at 1 p.m. The game will air live on ABC, which is also available for streaming through packages with Hulu Live, Sling TV, DirecTV Now and ABC Live (for select markets).
The PlayStation Fiesta Bowl
After a stellar season, the No. 8 ranked University of Central Florida Knights (12-0) will find out if they can stay undefeated against an SEC West team with the No. 11 ranked Louisiana State University Tigers (9-3) at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona at 1 p.m. The game will air on ESPN, which is also available for streaming on Hulu Live, Sling TV, DirecTV Now and WatchESPN apps.
The Rose Bowl
The first of the two playoff games of the season, the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes (12-1) take on the No. 9 Washington Huskies (10-3) at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California starting at 5 p.m. ESPN will air the game, which means it can also be streamed on Hulu Live, Sling TV, DirecTV Now and WatchESPN apps.
The Allstate Sugar Bowl
Last but not least, the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (11-2) will head west to take on the No. 15 Texas Longhorns (9-4) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana starting at 8:45 p.m. ESPN will air this game live, which means fans will also have the option to stream it on Hulu Live, Sling TV, DirecTV Now and WatchESPN apps.
